Random Thoughts and Foods

Firstly, I must apologise for the constantly changing font color.... I can't figure out which color is the best against the background.... so if you have any comments/suggestions... do tell.

Meanwhile. Today, my blood pressure shot through the ceiling. Living far away, I end up missing "home" folks a lot. By home folks, I mean people I love and that love me, and we have an understanding, and they just make me feel "home".
Anyway, I end up missing them a lot.... but sometimes, I am so very very happy that I am so far away.
For example, today..... my father says the most ridiculous things to me, so much so, I am angry to the point of shaking. I calm down, hubula comes home for lunch, which is a nice surprise, so am very happy. Only to hear from a friend that the same father has called a university professor and ended the conversation with "well then, I guess marriage is the solution".... referring to a child's academic issues.
Absurd is not even the word. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
If only I could get him to watch "An Education".

And food thoughts: friends came over for impromptu game night. Needed to make something fast, so I made my quick go-to salsa. Friend love love loved it. So another night going over to friend's for dinner, he asks me to make some, which I did.... under a lot of pressure to perform!! However, was such a hit, yet another friend asked for the recipe.
I thought it was so so strange. My salsa needs nothing special, not super adventurous, and yet so loved!

in conclusion: that which may be so simple, should not be underestimated. simple could simply be the best!
and also: life is absurd. learn to laugh at it, and you'll get through smiling.
:D

And for those of you curious, here's my made-up salsa recipe (i just put stuff - same stuff - as i taste, so no real recipe) as sent to my friend:

8 plump juicy tomatoes (not garden, i think roma would work)
2/3 red onion (super super finely chopped)
1/2 garlic (super super chopped, or pureed)
3 limes
salt
chillies
cilantro

so cut up tomatoes first, then put in onion + garlic. i usually put lots of salt.... enough so that you feel that it is on all the top layer tomatoes.... squeeze lime on top of that, stir and put in chillies. finally, chop up cilantro and put it in right at the end.

thing is, i keep adjusting a bit of this and a little more that (more chillies, more salt, oh a tad more lime) according to what i like. if it gets too salty, add another tomato and a tiny squeeze more of lime. too much lime, add a bit of salt...

ENJOY!
